| Welcome to
our website! |
Caritas Nepal (CN) welcomes
you to its new website, the launch of which,
incidentally, coincides with the emergence
of a new and exciting Nepal, which holds
much promise for renewed efforts towards
the uplifting of the underprivileged, the
marginalized and the needy.
Some of you may have
visited our old website, with which we started
our web presence, and which we have developed
into this second version. We hope that you
will find our new website interesting and
useful. We want to make this website comprehensive,
attractive and informative, but at the same
time keeping it simple, uncluttered and
user-friendly. We have not yet completed
construction of some of the sections/pages,
which you will find marked “under
construction”, and apologise for any
inconvenience this may cause you. We will
get these uploaded as and when each one
gets completed.
We would greatly appreciate any suggestions
or feedback regarding this site and have
provided a feedback form for this in the
Contact Us section. Please also use this
form to request any information that you
have not been able to obtain from our website.
We intend to further develop our site as
we move along keeping in tune with any changing
needs that may emerge. |

Caritas
Nepal executive committee members
and staff gather for the 18th
Annual General Assembly, 5th
November 2007.
Seated
at the centre are His Excellency
the Bishop of Nepal –
Monsignor Anthony Sharma (centre
left), who is also the President
of CN, and the Executive Director
of CN – Rev Father K B
(Silas) Bogati (centre right).
The structure in the background
is the church building and belfry
(bell tower) of the Roman Catholic
Church of Our Lady of the Assumption.
Caritas
Nepal is the social arm of the
Catholic Church in Nepal and
about half of its staff members
are Catholics. Although many
of Caritas Nepal’s staff
members are non-Catholics, they
serve the organization with
the same passion, pride and
loyalty as their Catholic colleagues. |

| The
Executive Director of Caritas Nepal,
Father Silas Bogati, distributes relief
to flood victims in Dhanusha on 18
August 2007.
Emergency Relief
is a major component of Caritas Nepal’s
operations. The past monsoon was an
exceptionally bad one for floods and
major parts of the Terai were inundated
for extended periods, causing huge
losses in life and property. Caritas
Nepal was once again in the thick
of the relief action and emergency
relief operations occupied centre
stage in Caritas Nepal for most of
the year. This disaster happened during
the violent disturbances in the Terai
– nevertheless Caritas Nepal
was the only agency that did not withdraw
its personnel but remained on the
ground throughout, until it finished
what it went there to do – deliver
relief to the victims. CN has upgraded
its emergency response service to
international standards and is now
recognized as a major player in the
Nepali emergency relief field.
