Initiated as a pilot project in 2018, our Homestay promotion efforts now have expanded in 6 different districts and farmers are benefiting themselves through improved livelihood income through homestay businesses.
SAFBIN provided Rs. 25,000/- to the group as seed money to start mushroom cultivation. The project also provided them one-day technical training on mushroom production. The group purchased the mushroom seeds, nylon ropes, bamboo, straw, and plastic to prepare a tunnel. At the moment the group has 170 mushroom balls and produces 4 to 5 kg of mushroom from each ball. Currently, the local market price of mushrooms is Rs. 150 to 175 per kg. The group also has a plan to sell those mushrooms in a nearby market.
