Lal Bahadur Pakhrin, a 66-year-old devoted farmer from Gurji Village in Hariharpurgadhi Rural Municipality Ward No. 3, has always been the pillar of strength for his family of 12. Despite the challenges of aging, he continued to labor in the fields to provide for his loved ones. However, over time, his life took a difficult turn as his vision began to fade due to cataracts, making daily tasks increasingly challenging and burdensome.

In search of help, Lal Bahadur attended a free eye screening camp organized by Caritas Nepal through the ‘Health Camp Services and Disabled Family Support’ project, generously supported by One Body One Spirit (OBOS). The camp, held on December 4–5, 2024, in Tinkuna, Hariharpurgadhi-3, screened 529 individuals, including 269 women, 260 men and 119 children. In partnership with Nepal Eye Hospital and Tilganga Eye Hospital’s Hetauda branch, the camp offered vital eye care services to the local community.

During the camp, Lal Bahadur was diagnosed with cataracts alongside 31 others. Thanks to the swift action by Caritas Nepal, he received cataract surgery performed by skilled surgeons from Tilganga Eye Hospital. Following the successful procedure, Lal Bahadur regained his sight, bringing newfound joy and relief to him and his family.

“With clear vision once again, my life has completely changed,” Lal Bahadur said with a grateful smile. “Now, I can work in my fields and care for my family without worry.”

Lal Bahadur’s story beautifully illustrates the profound impact that accessible healthcare can have, symbolizing Caritas Nepal’s unwavering dedication to transforming lives and uplifting rural communities like Hariharpurgadhi.
